Hello, my name is Donna Gordge. I am an artist, a teacher, and now a student again, working in Adelaide, South Australia.
I run intimate workshops for up to four people from my sweet little studio, and enjoy very much sharing the knowledge I have gained through my many different creative experiences. I have taught adults and children in all kinds of settings – TAFE, primary and secondary school, outreach programs and community arts workshops.
My own art takes a range of forms including painting, drawing, small-scale sculpture and stitch.
The themes at the very heart of my practice are memory and place. Much of my art is built around narrative snippets, recalled experiences and (I admit it, sometimes blurred!!) recollections. I often incorporate artefacts, animals and found objects which have deep personal meaning for me.
I am one of three founding members of the Duck n Weave Artist Collective – we meet frequently to inspire and learn from each other, we go on art excursions and exhibit together twice a year.
