Stitch Paint Burn Studio is now offering small classes for kids! We have a choice of fun art activities in the next school holidays. Book two places and save 10% – bring a friend or come to two different workshops!
These workshops are all suitable for kids 8-17. Most have a maximum of 4 people, so plenty of support is available to everyone.
Donna is a qualified and registered art teacher, with 25 years experience working with children of all ages.
Monoprint Mayhem $55 for 2.5 hours
Learn about printmaking using gelli plates – they are soft and show lots of detail when objects are pressed onto them! Explore colour and texture to build up monoprinted layers and produce beautiful, one-off artworks. You will also learn how to make your own gelatine plate so you can keep create at home without buying expensive equipment.
Mean Zines $50 for 2.5 hours
A ‘zine’ is a self-published book of writing and pictures, which can be about anything and everything! We’ll look at examples of other people’s fabulous zines, and use all kinds of methods to make our own. There’ll be printing, painting, collage, storytelling and poetry, if that’s your thing.
Mandala Madness $50 for 2.5 hours
Invent symbols that represent the great things in your life and use them to design a beautiful mandala. Learn how to use gouache paints to add colour to your artwork. We will also incorporate collage elements to add an extra dimension.
3D Cityscapes $55 for 3 hours
Together we will explore the shapes seen around different in cities, then use different materials to build your own cityscape. We’ll use glue-guns in this activity to create elaborately detailed miniature worlds.
Kids’ Wire Sculpture $45 for 2 hours
Use soft wire to create detailed creatures, with scales and spikes, claws and character! We’ll then use paper or fabric to add extra life to our sculptures.
Kids’ Shibori Dyeing $55 for 2 hours
Shibori is a kind of dyeing from Japan which uses beautiful blue indigo dye. We will play around with different Shibori techniques, clamping, tying, stitching and binding fabric squares to see the kinds of patterns we can make. If you’d like to bring a cotton t-shirt to dye as well, you can. Choose your favourite sample and leave it to be made into a pencil case!
