NATURE FESTIVAL – STONEYFELL
Cloth, Leaves & Colour with Fiona Connell Textiles
Saturday, October 7 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Connecting with nature and our home Mother Earth, this event will introduce you to the magic of ecodyeing with leaves, and also botanical watercolour painting.
This will be a day of creation, observation and community-building inspired by nature.
Fiona will teach you how to ecoprint onto a thrifted, pre-prepared garment (selected from a size-inclusive range). A delicious home-cooked meal will be served, then weather permitting, we will take a walk along the nearby creek to collect specimens from nature. Donna will guide you through a series of botanical watercolour sketches of your collection, while your garment processes. You’ll take home your dyed garment and several watercolour paintings.

GALLERY 1855 – TEA TREE GULLY
Saturday, 18 November 9:30am to 4:00pm
A writing and artist book-making workshop facilitated by poet Caroline Reid and visual artist Donna Gordge.
This one day workshop is presented in two parts. It is open to anyone who wants to creatively explore family or personal history through poetry and object making.
Morning session: 9:30am to 12:30pm with Caroline Reid
The emphasis is on writing poems that follow the natural rhythms of speech – free verse – and are built on sensory observations: colour, texture, shape, scent, sound, taste and touch. Working from your treasured piece of clothing or object, the workshop will help you shape poetry within the framework of your own personal history.
Afternoon session: 1pm to 4pm with Donna Gordge
You will be guided through activities to inspire your art making from your morning’s writing, in ways that do not include illustration!
You will explore conceptual and technique-driven artwork to reflect the ideas within your poetry. An artist’s book will be completed as part of the day’s project.
